Need some intimate and idyllic literature. Something to spend lazy Sunday afternoons looking and dreaming for some beautiful thing to happen. Sort of like Murakami. Something that makes you feel infinite.

I like this one a lot. It's really warm and mellow.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities
or pride; so I love you because I knew no other
way than this, where 'I' does not exist, nor 'you'.
So close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so
close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

- Pablo Neruda.

Here's a bit of poetry with the Visual art :3

Also something to that poem's effect, but in book form please.

OP, JL Borges fits the bill to a tee. Pick up his Collected Fictions and spend the next few weeks absolutely lost in his fantastical dream-worlds.

>> No.1191479

Also OP, you need Marquez. Anything by him, but especially Hundred Years of Solitude.

I'm not familiar with him. I'll look into him as well. On a random side note, I first thought it was some English name, and kept pronouncing it as George Bor jes. ._.

Could you compare him to Gabriel Garcia Marquez?

Borges is much more complex than Marquez, but his sentences feel modern and sharp in comparison. They definitely express (quite clearly) the "infinite," though.

English works would be appreciated. I've been reading too much translated fiction.

Preceded Marquez (I think), and wrote mainly short stories, although some are around 30-50 pages. Stories tend to be concerned with epistemology mostly, and exploit the boundaries of our imagination and thought as human beings. Quite lighter reading than Marquez. I'll link you to a short story written by him that's a particularly good introductory one:

Yes to Borges, No to Marquez

The first one actually gets the magical realism genre, the later is just plain boring

Dandelion Wine

yeah, it's by Bradbury, but it's in no way SF or bizzare. It's in every way a nostalgic lazy sunday book.

Please excuse me for awhile. I'll be reading off of all the suggestions with what I can find off the internet. I'll see if I like their style.

As of now the Proust suggestion looks good. The first few paragraphs of Swann's Way sounds exactly like what I was looking for.
