I recently read through Perdido Street Station and I fell in love with New Crobuzon. The only other cities I’ve loved as much are Jeff VanderMeer’s Ambergris, and Fallen London.
Are there any other books with cities that capture that same sense of mystical decay? Where the disgusting and horrific are everyday occurrences, and the city’s weird denizens take them in stride.
I’m going to pick up more Miéville and VanderMeer soon, but the only other writer I know of who’s come close is Robert Bennett with his Divine City books.

The author has been delaying for a decade, he has this guy knowingly allow himself to be used by a whore who won't even pity fuck him. I meant the influx of interest in Mtg due to Arena.
They recently talked about expanding their intertextual storytelling and brand, to raise awareness and increase the amount of good content. Pipe dreams of making Chandra and Liliana household names and such. They even hired the prolific Martha Wells to be the lead writer of Dominaria. So we might eventually see good books set in Magic the Gathering. We'll see.

Just finished Blindsight. Liked the aliens, they were interesting and managed to surprise me. The initial introduction of the Rorschach was also very neat, especially the way it parsed language. Took me a bit to get over the style of writing, but once it clicked in my head that the main character is a turbo autist I was able to get over it (maybe until reading the afterword). I didn't mind the vampires in terms of what they represented, but them being referred to as vampires and not some future jargon felt dumb.

Found an absolutely amazing space opera series (Spiral Wars by Joel Shepherd, first book is Renegade) and blasted through it in two days. Very meaty, very delicious. Books are long, aliens are fun, tech is cool, the author sets up a ton of Chekhov's guns and fires them all, and the protags are heroic without being Mary Sues.

yeah she turns into even more of a bitch
End of book 1 She sends Ruathain to his death by guilting him by saying "you didn't protect Varrcon at least protect my son Conn."

Book 2 she starts hating Vorna in her old age and alienates her from the village after everything vorna did for her.
