A thread about the Bible in /a/.

You note the difference with a /lit/ thread about the Bible?

They aren't indoctrinated plebs still coasting off thousand years old scripture for some modicum of stability in their frivolous lives? The Christian LARPers on /lit/ are some of the worst people on this board.

But I'm Christian unironically. The whole reason I'm /lit/ is because I've been reading the Bible religiously since a young age, and branched out into other books.

That's fine, as long as you aren't one of the anons copypasting scripture in non-Christian threads every chance you get, and shitposting over Book of Revelation tier nonsense about modern technology and cultural attitudes surrounding it being the harbinger of our downfall.

The Catholic LARPers are generally actually pretty well-read for /lit/ standards.
Stirner-, Nietzsche-, Landfags and so on are a much bigger cancer.

Hi guys. I've already read the whole Bible in my native language (Spanish) and I'm currently reading the English King James version because I felt like re-reading the Bible and wanted to try something new. With that said, what "companion book" do you recommend for the Bible? By "companion book" I mean something that comments and expands upon the most important passages. I'd like a book that has a either an academic-historical perspective or a Roman Catholic perspective. Basically I'm looking for something to read along with the Bible. Thanks, and God bless you.

Or maybe a book about the Saints

>Honestly the gay thing seems like the weakest offense of Sodom and Gomorrah. The far more disturbing aspect of this place is that upon two strangers arriving in the town EVERYONE was prepared to rape them. Every fucking man and the city so eager to bust a nut on two guys at the drop of a hat. Like think about that shit, how many men were even in this city? If you set the bar as low as 100 that still means you're sharing those angels with at least 49 other men if you split them evenly. God forbid you're last in line, you're basically just fucking a mountain of jizz. How do these people function, why was Lot even bargaining for their survival at all? Like maybe for the women and children, but they were probably all kinds of fucked too. This town just fills me with so many questions.
I was I could talk about Bible stories like that without feeling embarassed about it. Even though I'm an atheist, I feel like I should not defile what is believed by others to be the word of God with coarse, vulgar language commonly associated with pornography and Niggerspeak.

Do not read any interpretations written by anybody but yourself. By reading the Bible directly without any aids, you are looking into God's holy words and establishing a contact between yourself and the original writers, seeing the translators as people who put the original manuscripts' words into a language which you may understand, without veering off into the realm of paraphrasing or glossing. Your faith should remain untainted, and you should rely solely on what you may see in the Bible as the source for your religious beliefs.

You're confusing tradposters with Christians. Christians by definition (or by the definition of the Nicene Creed) believe that the presence of sin (and as a result, a sinful human nature) is the sole reason behind pain and suffering / our downfall. Human nature has remained consistent in every society throughout history.

the beauty of Platonic Idealism which is analogous to Hindu Idealism which are the most noble of all the faiths any human has ever aspired to hold is perfected in the disgusting ressentiment filled scheming cave mutterer screeds of the desert people and their domesticated European adherents

Which is embodied and perfected in the Abrahamic faith so.. there goes that theory.

We exist in the now, this is the immanentization of form. Nothing before or after, this is the becoming process in itself.
