Yes. If you have a soft spot for celtic/Briton myth it will make you really happy. You do need some patience though, as Williams has never let an editor tell him to take out detail. His world building is great, but the series does get bogged down at times because of it.

From a commercial point of view, does it make more sense to produce a series rather than a standalone novel? Would you sell more copies if you sold your 900 pages story as three 300 pages volumes? I understand that smaller books could sell better because they're easy to carry around, but could it be that delivering your story in separate installments could also build up hype and generate word of mouth, resulting in more sales with each new book? Seems odd that literally every single SFF book coming out these days is part of a series.

Spiral Wars by Joel Shepherd is one of the better ones going on right now. Space opera about the crew of a battleship that mutinies and flees human space after their captain is murdered by a conspiracy, and they get drawn into a even bigger conspiracy about ancient Berserker AIs that everybody thought were long dead.

It's really more of a "space opera where everybody is in the military" kind of setup than military science fiction. Interesting aliens, interesting plot, neat action sequences (like the attack on the high-gravity vault) and the AIs get more nuance than the "beep boop kill all biologicals" most authors give them.

Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly care for Sanderson but for people who seemingly think he's the worst person to ever write a book you lot are OBSESSED with him. You should seriously be charging him rent for all the free space he's occupying in your heads.

I've actually listened to his writing podcast some and the man clearly puts a lot of thought into making something popular. They're the weakest RotE series and are more YA than the other books but they're fairly short individually and still enjoyable overall, especially if you like the general series and Hobb's writing/style.

The plot draws quite a bit from the Liveship and Tawny Man books and more importantly plays a lot into the final series so it's not a good idea to skip it. Then again it's not a good idea to skip any of them because in the end it's one big story.

Polish copyright law allows for these kinds of cases though, it basically says the original creator is entitled to sue for greater compensation if something becomes a runaway hit. He figured the games wouldn't amount to much, which he cannot be faulted for considering the poor showing of previous novel-to-game adaptions (the Wheel of Time FPS) and the quality of video game writing in general. tl;dr is that Witchers are turned into albinos by the treatment done to make them into Witchers, and Ciri is a half-Witcher.
