The more of Peterson's picture-writing I see the more weirdly occult it becomes. I can't say I've read his book or that I plan to, but seeing these (there's many more examples) makes me think he's trying to work more with emotion and the desires of the reader than with a well reasoned argument.

>I dreamed I saw my maternal grandmother sitting by the bank of a swimming pool, which was also a river. Her genital region was exposed dimly. It had the appearance of a thick mane of hair. She was stroking herself absentmindedly. She walked over to me with a handful of pubic hair compacted into something resembling a large artist's paintbrush. She pushed this at my face. I raised my arm several times to deflect her hand. Finally, unwilling to hurt her or interfere with her any further, I let her have her way. She stroked my face with the brush gently and said, like a child, isn't it soft?

Not really. There is, I think, an argument to be made for obscurantist writing and the way it relates to the reader. This isn't necessarily a defense of peterson specifically.

Still waiting on Peterson to debate a Marxist.

I'd say that's a fair statement to some degree, however I can't say I have any immediate examples that come to mind that express this point well. I could see this being helpful for getting a weird idea across in the right circumstances I suppose.

Do you by chance have an example of what you might call good obscurantisim writing/art? Not being a jerk, legitimately want to see this done well.

I think Deleuze, Land, and Zizek are exemplary of it somewhat.

Didn't Peterson and Žižek have a debate not too long ago? I don't think I watched it, but I heard it was in the works.

That is actually him writing things pretty clearly. Wouldn't call his language obscure in this example.

Yeah I'd say that example works pretty well. It has a clear path of one idea to the next.
To be entirely honest I thought that was some image that someone had made for the sublime object of ideology, not actually from one of Žižek's books. This kind of abstraction is easy to follow, but I can't say I've seen more of Žižek's work presented this way.

Peterson's chaos dragon, on the other hand, is a bit more bizarre.

I think the obscurity of the writing in relation to understanding of it needs to match the ability of the subject to project onto the philosophical space. Denotation becomes secondary to connotation, and the connotation is textual. Philosophical objects become vessels, capacities for interpretation. Oddly enough I feel this entire paragraph is an example of the phenomena I'm trying to describe. In other words, I don't know if what I just said can properly understood by another in the way I understand it.
