group of 4 /out/ anons stumble upon a crashed alien spaceship. Pilot is dead. They don't know what to do so they make a post on /sci/ asking for help. With the help of /sci/ anons they manage to get inside and figure out how shit works. They find out that this spaceship is far more advanced than human technology. It can do variety of cool shit like sending a powerful EM impulses or put them all in stasis. They decide to do just that.

first they fly behind the solar system for safety, then they are setting a ship to constant EM impulses focused on earth. Whole earth goes blackout. They put themselves into 2 years stasis. After that they come back to earth and see that shit reversed into medieval times.

In a new world they are treated like Gods.

>I'm so glad I spent that time reading science fiction and fantasy!

>> No.11855257

Alright, I finished the second draft of my fantasy novel (151,812 words), and I'm content with the product and willing to let it go. So what do I do with it?

The end goal is to make some money, but I'm not trying to get the big bucks immediately or anything; I'm fine with starting slow. Do I go the Patreon route and turn it into a web serial (even though it's not a LitRPG), or do I cut the bullshit and go straight to publishing on Amazon? Or, do I start swarming literary agents' inboxes despite no personal connections?

If this is the first novel you've ever written, it's most likely terrible on the core level. Also, anything more than a hundred thousand words is most likely too long for a first-time author.

These factors in mind, you shouldn't publish it at all. Instead start writing a second novel: it will be better in every way, and will make you feel ashamed that you ever even thought that your first book could be shown to anyone.

If you've written several novels and you're legitimately sure it's not going to get any better than this - or if you'd just like to ignore my warnings - then Amazon self-publishing is probably the safe bet. Literary agents and publishers don't care about fantasy nowadays: they want woke YA and shit. And Patreon is of course for litRPG.

2 years is way too short for that sort of thing to happen. not to mention. in the west pretty much every piece of infrastructure is shielded against electro-magnetic interference. especially nuclear power plants and waterworks. youd be retarded to think people havent tried attacking these in real life before trying to disable them for whatever reason.
2 years for a medieval change is also way too short. try 50 or so without electricity or the internet. and even then most knowledge nowadays is in print so the level would probably fall to about the 1930s or so and not below that. because knowledge is so widespread and ingrained in society we cant just fall back to the dark ages like nothing has happened.

try reading al-ice it has a similar premise to what you just thought up.
if you really want to go with your story though you need to think up stuff and make it more logical.
despite what you may want to think, the best sci-fi stories are based in hard-science and logic. even the ones with omnipotent fleas that mindcontrol dogs into keeping an eye on the human race.

multi pov wasn't even the worst part, everything about the sequels was just so bad.

But I understand why he felt compelled to take it to multi pov, the way he ended the first book the protagonist had reached the zen stage, there was going to be no further character development and it would have been unbearable reading solely from his pov as well. It was just one of the many many mistakes he made, it was his first series after all.

His next series Draconis Memoria is better, doesn't quite hit the highs of Blood Song consistently but never gets as bad as the other books either.

He's also returning to Vaelin's story in his next series.

"The book follows a young woman in her thirties who wakes up in a park surrounded by bodies wearing latex gloves. She's unable to remember anything about herself or how she or the bodies got there, and her only clue is a letter in her coat pocket that says, "To You". Inside is a letter that tells her the body previously belonged to Myfanwy Thomas, who worked in a secret government organization and was targeted by an unknown assassin. The letter offers the young woman (who is thereafter identified in the book as Myfanwy, although she sees herself as a separate person, considering her 'original' self as Thomas) a choice of taking up the life of the woman before her and discovering the identity of the would-be killer, or setting out with a new identity."

the premise is that back in the early 20th century there was a well known legend in the culinary business about a fat old chinaman who would wander from restaurant to restaurant offering to work one night in exchange for a meal.

It's said that any restaurant that accepted him would feel something magical happen that night, although none could ever say what he did. The food the kitchen churned out would be a religious experience for cook and customer alike, the kind of thing that inspired men to quit their 9-to-5 jobs, or women to divorce their husbands and take a cruise to monte carlo.

The legend is well-known enough among gourmands that most would recognize the wooden token he leaves outside the restaurants he spends the night at even if they've never seen it in person, and well-to-do diners will often try to hire him to prepare a meal for them

>TIME documented the phenomenon in 1966, declaring that hobbits were the new literary heroes on American college campuses. “[The] Rings trilogy was first published in the U.S. twelve years ago, had a small but dedicated coterie of admirers, including Poet W. H. Auden and Critic C. S. Lewis, but languished largely unread until it was reprinted last year in two paperback editions,” the story explained. “Since then, campus booksellers have been hard put to keep up with the demand. At the Princeton bookstore, says one salesman, it is the ‘biggest seller since Lord of the Flies.'”

>Why was it such a hit, besides the more accessible paperback format? Though Tolkien said he hadn’t intended any sort of message for modern readers, the students to whom TIME spoke said that they appreciated the chance to escape from the complicated world of the 1960s to one where you could “cheer the hero and boo the villain.” It was a perfect match between a generation and the precise breed of escapism it demanded.

Okay though, quick clarification: this is just the legend that sets up the story.

The real story focuses on the chef's grandaughter and a boy who becomes his apprentice along the way. The plot is that after many years in exile from his home country, the chef is returning to his home country to die, and bringing his granddaughter with him so he can give her the guidance he was never able to before because he was on the run.

However, on the way they found a boy who had become an inadvertent stowaway. Since the chef is trying to teach his granddaughter good values he ends up watching over him and discover that the boy wants to learn how to cook and is a good influence on his grandaughter. As a result, they get tangled up in each other's business and the boy becomes the chef's final apprentice.

However, it's not all feel-good moments. The chef was exiled from his home country for leading protests against the crown for using the colony's own food supplies as a weapon against its people. An agent has been keeping tabs on him ever since, and when he sees that the old man is trying to sneak back into the country he starts to suspect that trouble is brewing

The last man of a race, born at the end of a civil war between men and women of a distant planet; is the main protagonist of this story, in one where the feelings of the next wars and love are the direct focus in the book.
Reborn after an assassination attempt, it is also the last hope left against a feminist empire that was falling to pieces.
Withdraw the ancient glory of its race? Or will he only fall into the eternal suffering that overwhelms him every day?
