Reading for the sounds of the prose is nice but the content isn't valueless.

OP's just larping as some polyglot when he himself only speaks English and probably Spanish in a very half-assed way. It's just typical /lit/ bullshit.

I read Homer in Ancient Greek and Cicero in Latin and guess what, I liked the translated version more. I would never force someone to go through all the hassle to learn dead languages just to read some authors. I do acknowledge that usually the original version is better but this doesn't mean the translated version is worthless. Also, how many languages do you know? Will you avoid books just because you can't read the original prose? I find that extremely awful and I'm sorry for you.

Learning any language but English, Mandarin and Spanish is the biggest psued indicator around. You have no interests besides larping as a continental 'intellectual' to make up for your complete lack of fortitude and insight in anything useful or relevant

Umm learning a language isn't really anything like appreciating the artistic merit of a work. Learning syntax and cases is a lot closer to math than anything in the humanities. This is why stemfags are often great at learning languages and lit browsers kind of suck at it. Consuming art should not be about making up a bunch of difficult tasks to prove how patric you are. It is about directly engaging with the content which can be done perfectly well in translation.
T. learned Latin and French and still just read in English because it is less of a struggle.
