Hey, man, just relax. I agree with the dude who said that HoL is hipster despite the fact that I agree with you in saying that it's the shit.

>>1184145
wait is this cause my tense changed in the middle of the sentence?

>> No.1184176

>>1184154
No, it's because House of Leaves was both hipstercore AND shit, and the fact that you said that The Perks of Being a Wallflower ISN'T totalhipstercore just makes you very obvious.

>> No.1184203

>>1184176
oh well that makes me feel better
those books greatly effected me when i read them in highschool in fact i think its about time for a re-read

>> No.1184278

Sad to say it but Walden. Man those hipsters love that book even though they'd much rather crowd themselves in Brookyln than roughing it out in the woods.

>> No.1184342

>>1184203
ok sorry but, fyi:
Affect = verb
Effect = noun

>> No.1184378

tell me.... is Ulysses REALLY hipster..... or is it just that popular

>> No.1184387

>>1184374
It wasn't, but after they'd finished picking the bones from 1984 they needed something to prey on next - something with a similarly "deep" plot that's simple enough for them to understand.

Sorry bro. :(

>> No.1184411

>>1184387

1984 TOO!?

christ, I'd better make a list on my Iphone or macbook pro as to what literature is for hipsters!

i know some of you guys are trolling/being ironic (hopefully all of you), but if you reject a book based on its readership, you're doing exactly what you hate hipsters for, only inverse

also hipster doesn't mean anything anymore. the ONLY current consensus about hipsters is that they wear tight pants/jeans.

Srsly? No books are hipstercore unless the writer who wrote them was a hipster. So, Tao Lin?

>> No.1184469

>>1184461

I want Tao Lin to die in a fire.

>> No.1184472

I don't know how much it's mentioned on /lit, but around here where I live, I'm constantly told by hipsters that Kerouac's On the Road is their bible.

>> No.1184491

>>1184472

Yeah, because they WISH they were that awesome. Seriously, hipsters are people who are so rebellious that they aren't even rebels. They do what they do according to what everyone else does--instead of following, they do the opposite of what those people do. On the Road was about throwing caution to the wind and living in the moment by the seat of your pants. Fucking hipsters with trust-funds and rich dentist parents would never have the balls to do something like that.
