Post ITT if you are not some retard who needs to take notes while reading. If you can't hold ideas in your head with your brain power alone, you are a retard. Even the "smartest" note-takers are retards. I'm sorry, but it's true.

Buttmad retards. Two other reasons note-taking is bad:

1. It's ugly.
2. It's egotistical

Nobody cares about your crayon scribbles, fucking idiots.

I've never bought a second-hand book with notes that really made me think. These dweebs always write inane shit like 'key opens door...?'. My favourite is when they begin by writing long, enthusiastic notes, but by the mid-point they've completely given up. One broad even created an intricate bookmark for Kafka's The Castle that was taped towards the back, next to an unchecked checkbox that said something like 'YAY! I've finished The Castle!!!!' The book contained lots of handwritten annotations for, like, the first 10 pages; literally nothing after that.

Exactly, and even when it is intelligent note taking, it just strikes me as self-indulgent and useless. Do you really need to remind yourself of what's being written? You shouldn't really need to do anything beyond putting post-its to remind you of what page something is on if you need it for reference.

I write essays on a work if If I want to understand it deeply. Passage analysis and so on. I highlight passages using a color-coded system for easy citation.

You're just lazy and envious of the superior notetakers industriousness.
Even if your memory is good you'll even retain more if you write the stuff down.
