I get how it might seem like that from the outside but in lit. studies unsubstantiated shit doesn't fly. You can use concepts from theory to make arguments about a text in an analysis, but those arguments still have to make coherent sense. Like you might draw upon certain perspectives to say maybe there's evidence that the author was influenced by xyz or the text can be read Q way. But that doesn't give you free reign to read, say, The Hound of The Baskervilles and inexplicably claim that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was transgender.
