Hey /lit/
The other day, I physically went to Borders and bought The Sound & the Fury, The Great Gatsby, & The Brothers Karamazov.
I spent upwards to $48.
Judge me.

that's fine. i also buy my books, i just want a big and physical library.

>> No.1177855

I've seen all of those at Goodwill for probably a dollar fifty total. You spent a lot of money on such easy-to-find books.

That's all I have to say.

>> No.1177856

that's cool i hope you enjoy them i would recommend reading the faulkner first

>> No.1177860

>>1177855
just because they're cheap at the goodwill center where you live doesn't mean that it's the same where I live
plus, it's in brand new condition
you're right, I probably could have found them cheaper elsewhere but its not really worth the hassle

>> No.1177861

You look like someone I would compliment on such a thing in order to get in your pants, so...

Nice, I absolutely loved the Great Gatsby!

If I could afford to, and I had the space, I'd buy all my books too. As it is I have neither money nor space, so a Kindle is the most practical way for me.

The other day I bought 15 used books for the same amount of money. All of them were like new. Also, I bought them online so there was even less hassle than going to the store. WHAT NOW NIGGER?

Go used or go home OP

The fact that we're in 2010 doesn't mean buying books is no longer cool. As for the price spent, who's to judge OP for buying nice-looking, durable versions of three classics instead of crappy ones?

I just bought a few records a few days ago. Can you believe that? I payed for a record. I must be retarded.

New books will never look good, look at those ugly horrible covers and feel that cheap paper.
Granted there are certain publishers that print nice books/covers, like oxford university press/cambridge press and select others, but these are the rare exception.
Look at a penguin from ~1965-1985, tell me those aren't the nicest books you've ever seen.
