I still haven't read Lacan or Foucault yet. I'm just as far from Deleuze as I was a year ago. I don't feel like I will be ready to approach him any time soon.

In the academy, yes, mostly because he's only read by pimply faced comp. lit. boys who comprehend maybe 1/100000th of what he's saying and try to co-opt it rather than study, yknow, actual philosophy or actual literature, or, worse, he's used by washed-up crit. theorists or sociology departments both of which are full of frauds who likewise couldn't cut the mustard in any other discipline, let alone can read a dense philosophical text.
