Yes, but weirdly enough, I seem to remember reading two different versions of it in english, one that I really didn't like (like it was "made easier" or something). The earlier swedish translations were very poor, not capturing the flow of his language at all, but the latest one is really good.

In my opinion it is one of the best Finnish books out there, but I doubt many non-Finns would find it all that good. It follows the life of a poor, crofter family through three generations, during the late 19th-middle of the 20th century, and how they're affected by political turmoil civil war and WWII.

His book "Unknown soldiers" that deals with the continuation war is a better place to start, though.
