no one said anything about that. paris is no longer a /lit/ city. Back in the henry miller days and james joyce days there was proper cabarets and all night bars and brothels and all manner of libertine pursuits; nowadays everything is over-regulated and you can't even have nightclubs because of noise laws. The blacks didn't cause that though, too much tourism and cultureless middle class folks did. The blacks ruined the banlieues up north, but that was never the literary hotspot. Again you don't know what you're talking about because you're raving on about a city you've never visited.

As far as cities that capture some of that literary and libertine feel of the belle epoque and twentieth century Paris, there doesn't seem to be many. Berlin or Vienna I guess might come closest, but its still very far off. The lit world has too much gravity in London and NYC and those places are just hiveminds for PC liberalism.

It was like a different world for a kid that grew up in the fucking strip mall burbs. Like going back in time to the early 20th century when things still meant something concrete.
