How many /lit/erati feel the need to correct their friends' grammar, and punch those who spam the world with terrible misspelling and poor grammar?
The picture is incredibly related.

Maybe if we were successful in one of those attempts to fix the language people wouldnt have to worry about shitty grammar rules like that.

If you feel the need to correct your friend's grammar all the time you're simply attempting to prove your superior intelligence all the time. And that's just fucking sad. Be the bigger man, let the tards dig their own graves and just be glad you aren't one of them. Besides they won't take it as helpful but rather as 'talking down to them' which they probably deserve anyway but no one enjoys.

I don't do it; I also don't correct my own mistakes in a bashful huff moments after they're caught. You have to be insecure to give a shit about that. Shoot me: I overlooked a letter or an apostrophe.

People like you need to grow up. I snigger at folks who speedily type in an asterisked* correction. Quit being insecure faggots. Life doesn't care about your persnickity quirks, and affirming them in public forums doesn't validate your pseudo-eccentricities.

anon 1: points out insignificant spelling or grammatical error in anon 2's rebuttal

I fucking hate most people from my country since they dont use our language right. Since english is not my frst languague, I like being corrected if I am wrong with something but if you were born with a language and you studied it in school, you at least need to make an effort to speak or write good.

That's not an isolated problem of /lit/. Every pretentious teenager on the planet depends on that retort like it's a filthy, slutty fallback girlfriend available at all hours when they realize they're not getting lucky in the current debate.

It's ironic, because that same teenager is probably delivering 3000 texts a month with poor grammar. Pointing out shoddily-construed sentences is really just an exercise of convenience.

I'm sure at least half of these so-called grammar Nazis will grow beyond the habit, as it's a fair assumption that most are teenagers or young adults, while the other half have unfortunately reached the ceiling of their maturity. That's life, the more you mature, the faster you discern where people have stunted; for the most part, high school is that ceiling.

I despise most of my countrymen because they don't use our language correctly. Since English is not my first language, I am happy to be be corrected when I make a mistake.

If you studied your native language in school, then you must make an effort to speak and write with precision.

Using Kind Of andSort Of

The expressions kind of or sort of to mean "rather," "partially," or "somewhat" are nonstandard.

Both expressions literally mean "type of" or "variety of."

Incorrect: The child felt kind of lonely.

Correct: The child felt somewhat (or rather) lonely.

Correct: The kestrel is a kind of falcon.
(A type or variety of falcon)

When using kind of or sort of always use a singular object of the preposition of. If the object is plural, then use kinds of or sorts of.

Examples: What kind of salad is this?
(Kind and salad are both singular.)

There are all sorts of fruits in this salad.
(Sorts and fruits are both plural.)
