I have this and Sphere. Should I be reading this, or should I move on to other books?

Im wondering what /lit/ 's thoughts on Michael are.

Prey was ok.
Yet to read The Andromeda Strain.

I've read Jurassic Park, and I own The Andromeda Strain and Sphere. Anyone want to suggest which of those two I should read next?

op here. I just started Sphere, and it looks alright so far. full of cliches, but alright reading.

Sphere STARTS full of cliches, then abruptly abandons them and turns into a cool psychological thriller like 60 pages in. Don't get turned off by the first few chapters, it's one of his best.

I liked Andromeda Strain, too.

I say read them all, they are all very well written and entertaining books, and some are in drastically different settings and time periods. I thought every one of his books was very entertaining.

Timeline's ending becomes horribly depressing when you actually stop to think about what the business leader guy did.

Basically, the "villain" in the modern-time part of hte book is nothing more than a douchebag. He's not trying to kill anyone (and in fact goes to great lengths to ensure people's safety and is visibly worried when people are hurt) and he's not trying to make huge amounts of money doing anything illegal or immoral. They trap him in the past where he'll die of the black plague simply because he's an arrogant asshole.

I love Crichton.

For a short okay work: Terminal Man
For a little history and sciene: Timeline
Classics: Jurassic Park, Andromeda Strain
NEXT is fun too.
