I read The God Delusion as an edgy teenager years ago when it first came out. Looking back, I suppose for teenagers with no prior exposure to philosophy it's serviceable, for anyone else it's shit. Even at the time I thought the chapters explaining away Hitler and communism were weak, and now I'm no longer an atheist I see them in the proper light of pathetic special pleading they belong in. His rebuttal of the cosmological argument that anything that could have created the universe must be at least as complex as the universe and therefore in need of at least as much of an explanation is philosophically worthless.

when i was a kid, i my dad gave me the blind watchmaker because i was interested in evolution, and it blew my mind
i have no way to rate it objectively because of this sentimental attachment but i think it's probably still a good work on how evolution works.
