a strange mix of being frontrunners and pesky contrarians at once is my guess.

it's true that deleuze is a big deal, and there's basically no way to refute his position except by dismissing continental philosophy out of hand completely. so until that happens you can just throw up a post that says Smartest Endboss and basically everyone has to agree with you, whether they (or you) have actually read him or not. until somebody else becomes a big deal in the field.

but stirner was the go-to philosopher a while ago and then it was peterson. now it appears to be deleuze. who knows, that might actually be progress.

I have read it and I disagree. Bataille throws around a lot of conflicting meanings not because he doesn’t understand them, but to reformulate ideas in a way not previously considered...like for instance the movement from restricted economy to general economy. Also why does Bataille have to conform to previously established definitions? That’s kinda his whole deal with transgression and so on. If he conformed to standard ideas he wouldn’t really be Bataille, he’d just be part of the normal canon which I don’t think he would have wanted. So basically by hoping that Bataille would keep Marxist definitions untampered with you’ve missed the whole point of his ideas and I find it amazing that you read one of his books with the whole thing flying over your head.

Well for DFW they were literal lobsters and are connected to animal rights due to the way we presume that they feel pain and the fact that they're not easy to kill humanely due to how their nervous system is spread out or something like that.

For Peterson iirc it's a matter of hierarchy and how lobsters feel wellbeing depending on their position in it (we presume based on their release of serotonin or something like that).

For D&G, God is a lobster or a double pincer because he captures life in strata and between minimum and maximum thresholds and blocks it. D&G are vitalists of some sort so life is metaphysically free "from the start" and every object in the world is a composite that captures life and each objects has many thresholds in which it stays together (extensive limits, intensive limits such as melting or boiling or freezing points etc.) so the lobster God captures the becomings of the pluralistic chaosmos which is an egg. Too many food analogies.

I don’t like deleuze all that much but for someone who claims to hate him you’re behaving like someone who secretly likes him. Posting his “wacky” excerpts to gawk at while other anons ask for more. You remind me of a girl I knew who would announce to me that she found a new tv show that she hated but would then say “I hate it so much i HAVE to watch the whole thing”. Then there’s you who knows exactly what pages to post because “these are my least favourite, I HAD to read the entire book to find out which parts I hated the most!!” Stop being a bitch and be honest with yourself. You love D&G.

I find it entertaining in a trainwreck way. It's more that all these Serious Intellectuals took this seriously that constitutes the hilarious part, not his nauseating trip reports by themselves.

D&G are beyond this kind of base fre*dian analysis, it's more likely he posts them to posit the unraveling of the logic of irony against sincerity, a triangular transmorphosis of the shitpost, the wolf upon the mountain, anally becomes the volcano. intermezzo.

Damn well I can’t disagree with you, especially after seeing this >>11682702 I really hope Deleuze doesn’t become a new epic meme because if I see more posts like this I will become a gun-human appendage on the path to becoming dead.

>I really hope Deleuze doesn’t become a new epic meme

We've consistently had Deleuze threads for a while now and everything about him screams meme. It's only a matter of time before Deleuzeposting becomes the new Petersonposting.

Which is good because I unironically like him and think he made countless worthwhile good points despite his horrid style.

you just seem a tad jumpy and defensive for someone who is totally cool with the demented perv shitposts that turned the academy into a joke being shown for precisely what they are here on 4chan of all places. quite the fitting détournement no?

seeing someone unironically talk like this makes me enraged. It’s ok bud we’re on 4chan you can talk normally. Also I have no fucking clue what you’re talking about and I don’t know why you think I’m “cool” with it.

Wherefore is this the case? Is this explicated in the appropriate chapter of Thousand Plateaus, or elsewhere? It instead seems to me that a lobster is a fine discrete, and altogether definite, body with organs. Also your last sentence sounds like total bullshi...

Oh my god of course it's all bullshit.
