How often do you read religious texts, /lit/? Is there something about believing a text to be the undeniable truth that makes it more pleasurable to read? Or does it make it stale?
I personally enjoy the Bible and the Upanishads, though I'll examine the Talmud soon.

In my anecdotal experience, Christian especially feel pressured to read the Bible and become guilty when they think they're not reading it enough. When I read the Bible it's purely because I want to, and I really enjoy it. Interestingly, Hindus seem to love the Sermon on the Mount, I suspect because it's similar to the typical Hindu formula of a teacher instructing his pupil as in the Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita.

Most of it is dry as a bone. I've only read bits that are cited in books and article on the Bible. I think one would need an introductory book on it to even approach it.

Here's two online translations that I've used:

It'd be a better idea to look into the scriptures of other religions. The Talmud isn't some equivalent to the Bible. If you want to follow up on Christian read look into the many writings of Church Fathers and theologians e.g. the recommended reading charts.

Reading the Bible felt like a chore before, but I really enjoy it now that I have an actually good edition instead of the Meme James Version.

lol jew anon here, you will never finish it. it's 90% boring legal stuff. buy some compilations. you can find compilations for the interesting stories it has, weird occult stuff, and controversial stuff, but for god's sake don't think you're actualy going to read the whole thing
