Anyone here ever had a gf who likes to read? I mean like good books? Care to talk about it?

I did once. She used to love to chat with me about Goethe and Leibniz and Heraclitus and great stuff, we had coffee together every day. A couple of months into the relationship I invited her to my place, but she told me come to hers. As it turned out she lived with her parents (she was 20, I'm 30, no biggie). She asked her dad if I could go in her room with her,and said okay so long as the door stays open. She had a Confederate flag on her wall and a picture of Francisco Franco above her bookshelf. Nice people but I broke up with her after that

Yes. Read all of Proust together (apart, but he remained a topic of discussion for about 2 mos.). After a good start the relationship went South quickly after about a year-and-a-half. No details worth mentioning. I now date an overworked, perpetually exhausted social worker. Scads of time to read and write!

Why would you want to date a right-wing extremist?

You're praising women, you are implying that women can enjoy literature and authentically care about it. Fact is, this is our territory. Our idealized self-image is consistuted on the basis that women and sexually active people CANNOT understand literature; it's our domain.

I don't think she is sexually active. Because when I first tried to kiss her (two months in, right before I came over, she said, wait, what are you doing? I said, kissing you. And she it's a bit early, isn't it? And I just kissed her anyway and I could hear her gasping while I did it. Nothing intense, no tonguing, but after I was done she was panting and hugged me and whispered "I love you". That's when I asked her over

What I don't get I she seemed normal and cute and caring, she even asked me to do volunteer work with her for our second date. She cooked food for homeless people and helped animal shelters. I was shocked when I saw her room.

Not American but isn't having the confederate flag basically just some regional patriotism/nationalism? Hence why blacks and the like have it, too. It's hardly right-wing or extremist. It seems fairly default, 'love of one's own'. Also, even if she were a 'right-wing extremist' she seems intelligent and well-read which is more than 99.99% of people regardless of any label you slap on them or political misgivings. Which means she won't be dumb or autistic about these things so you don't have to worry.

It seems rather difficult with how religious she is. It might just lead to anger
