Most objective literature on the fall of rome?

Sadly most works I have encountered are tainted by the then en vogue renaissance fedora tipping, which have seen everything to do with christianity as per se bad and destructive, which clearly stands contrary to what most recent research shows.

BRB I suddenly have the strangest urge to listen to 1980s Japanese pop music.

Criticizing the Christianization of Rome isn't fedora tipping. You're just biased against it.

>criticizing
That's the point. I'm looking for actual history, not opinions which change with time.

Just read Gibbon and be happy. This is /lit/ not /his/ and the magnum opus of the greatest master of English prose should be sufficent for your needs

Gibbon is good, I've read selections of his work. Still there is no reason to imply that there is no recommendation besides him on a board for literature.

Yeah, I don't think so.

There are other books on the fall of Rome, but Gibbon is so good the layman historian doesn't really need anything else. His quality as literature is an added bonus. Unless you are a serious historian decline and fall will do

Thanks but I prefer reading about history from more than one source just because it's the most liked version.
