I'm a retarded 30+ who pretends to read, but in reality wastes so much time at work that has no energy whatsoever to read anything worthwhile.

The joys of being a responsible adult are overrated.

I don't "pretend" to read. I'm 19 years old, and I've dedicated much of my adolescence and youth to absorbing knowledge and others' experiences through reading, and applying it onto my writing. Literature is the way through which I feel I can be in contact with others' minds and thoughts.

What's the point to reading fiction if you want it to be all just like real life, instead of seeking absolute beauty, perfection, and truth?

At a point you are able to tell that Literature has certain pictures that always mean the same thing. Like rabbits representing innocence, Nature implying The Garden of Eden, or Light representing hope or positivity or something like that. And think about what every event or scene means, because if the author did his job right, then it has to mean something.

I'm 29 and hating every minute of it.

This has been the most difficult and unpleasant year of my life since I was 19, so I guess there's something to be said about the last year spent before transitioning to a new decade.

In the middle of my 20s, there were some good times. Struggles, of course, but maybe a solid 5 or 6 years where I wasn't worried constantly or stressed out about bullshit.

I hope I can say the same thing about my 30s. I hope there are more good times than bad. I'm trying really hard to make sure everything is set up properly for this to be the case. But it's even harder now than it was at 19 because I have fewer options and less naive optimism about the future. I've already tried a bunch of things and failed, checked them off the list.

when you hit 27 everything younger will be bringer of fear. you prodigal destiny is then over, if you ever had one. you become equal, drone, there is nothing special about you.

good thing is that you know what you want, by self-knowledge or simple vapidness of your age. you waste less time. it's also much easier to kill your self.

Don't worry about it. You're not them. I've mentioned this in other threads about aging, but my 30s were much happier than my 20s. I'm now in my 40s and life is still good. Your fears will mold your future, but only if you let them.
