We have philosophy discussion that don't refer to specific citations all the time. Nobody gives a shit save for a handful of faggots like you.

You're free to fuck off and find a thread more suited to your interests.

Actually I'm not, because you dumb faggots keep pushing fiction off the board with your off topic spam.

The problem is that /his/ posters are too autistic about grob germanum larping to discuss philosphy, otherwise i agree with you

I am honestly not sure anyone really understands what they mean by "becoming".

Do people actually get upset when a thread 404's because someone posted another sub-par thread? What's with this self-proclaimed indignant gatekeeperhood?

This is 4chan, ephemeralness is the name of the game, your BotNS thread can literally just be re-posted if you want the discussion to keep going. Besides, how many dumb-fuck threads related to fiction are there up right now? There's one that literally just says "How to write women?" with a picture of a Jezebel on it. Should that thread be deleted? In my biased opinion, yes it should, it's clear the OP was just looking for an excuse to post their exploitative pictures of women. And yet it stays up, because it's technically on topic. This thread at least tries to engage in some sort of philosophical discussion without also just being a vehicle for girlposting.

Parmenides's conclusions necessarily follow from extremely intuitive premises that will not in any likelihood ever be disproven. Heraclitus forces strange ontological commitments upon us (temporal parts?). Zeno's paradoxes were intended to show the absurdity of adopting the infinitely divisible and pluralistic world of Heraclitus, not a defense of eleatic monism. Heraclitus is the way of seeming, Parmenides is the way of truth.

>> No.11600975

I've read Parmenides and Heraclitus in Greek and in multiple translations and I'm always just dumbfounded by what the fuck people on /lit/ are talking about. They're referring to these guys like we have books and books by them and fully understand their philosophical systems. They only survive in super fragmentary form, and so whatever version of them you're espousing has way more to do with your own hermeneutical lens than the necessity of the texts. There's a reason the presocratics are sort of a holy grail of philology - because even after millennia of incisive critique and commentary they remain, basically, entirely open-ended. I assume people are just pulling their interpretations from Stanford encyclopedia or Bertrand Russel or something. its the ancient equivalent of brainlet petersonbots coming in here with their autistic interpretations of Solzhenitsyn
