Why are these words even used nowadays when they are completely obsolete. You don't have free nor have will and even less the combination of them, free will. I know its difficult for some people to live with the fact that they don't have even 0.00001% control of their life but its just the harsh truth

What's even scarier is that people do have 100% will that is free.

I get really trippy when I contemplate how I "decide" things. You obviously passively make decisions a lot of things. But whether I deliberate or I just decide without thinking, I never decide on deciding. I didn't decide to deliberate before I decided. I didn't decide to decide to decide and so on forever. Yet somehow I feel as though I'm in charge of this action.

I don't feel out of control but I don't feel in control either.

Actually, I have tons of free.

Because to think the opposite extreme is impractical, changes nothing, and it quite frankly very autistic.

I don’t believe in free will but St. Anselm has a motivational text on free will. If you remembered that text whenever you made decisions, you would seem as if you a little bit more free will than before.

>> No.11496700

And even more frightening is that not even one particle has a quality or atribute called free or will.

>You obviously passively make decisions a lot of things
Everything is done passively(even though its quite active in the grand scheme of it), even your complete awareness is already predetermined and causal.

Obviously you don't live your life as though everything you do is determined you absolute fucking brainlet, we don't have access to all of the information that pertains to our lives so we don't know everything so at best we're playing with probabilities.

Well then you answered your own damn question. Why did you make this thread?

Everything has a price, its taken one way or another.

>St. Anselm
Now that's a great meme philosopher, I had so many laughs with him.
>more information means free will
You don't even understand the meaning of the word.
>>11496698
It doesn't change anything because its already predetermined.

it was predetermined

So there's no point in contemplating this knowledge.

Why do you think I prefaced my post by saying I don’t believe in it, dipstick?

it was predetermined that we'd contemplate it

I didn't you absolute fucking brainlet, and additionally, there is a difference between life-as-lived and life-as-is, and further reality-as-is, and if you dismiss deterministic assumptions you dismiss our ability to contrive an effective science and metaphysics and system of governance, and therefore you are retarded, q.e.d.

I was answering OP's question about why ''free will' is used and that was why. That's all. And I wasn't answering about mere deterministic assumptions but the negation of free will and absolute determinism.

I just skimmed it and the way you worded it was confusing.
>>11496749
You don't have a saying in it given the topic of the thread.

>> No.11496858

But being capable of engaging in life-as-lived does not mean free will is real. I agree with OP that it is an antiquated term and idea that causes a lot of trouble.
