I'm majoring in philosophy but I'm seriously thinking about dropping out because the more I learn about it the more I want to get away from it. I just can't stand it. Maybe I'm just too dumb for it but I don't want to read anything else about it. I'm burned out. I would rather read good fiction or spend time in nature, or draw stuff like used to when I was a child.
Having to go through text after text dissecting argument after argument about subjects I just don't care is dreadful and they don't grow inside me. The only ones that have not been 100% superficial experiences are Plato and Aristotle and the pre-socratics, but I still not really care about anything they said.
The only thing I have enjoyed is learning latin. Beautiful language.

Maybe you haven't studied something you liked yet. Most eventually find something that resonates with them, usually Nietzsche or Schopenhauer or something else that speaks directly about "mundane" (as in worldly rather than trivial) matters.

Unless you study analytical philosophy in which case p > q where p is "you're studying analytical philosophy" and q is "you're fucked".

stay away from your studies as soon as it is reasonable for yor to do and engage yourself in some other meaningful things. I arrive at that place you describe every now and than during the semester, when I am brooding over Lord Byron for example and realise that I don't care about him or what he says about the Council of Cintra in Childe Harold at all.

It kind of is. Thus Spoke Zarathustra is close enough to literature.

autistic analytical philosophy doesn't really give the same wonder when you started getting into Plato does it though?

I wanted to understand, now I don't care about understanding anything, and I have even started to doubt if I am even capable of understanding such complex thoughts, which at the same time don't affect me at all. I don't think philosophy and my body are made for each other. I see my classmates being really interested and passionate about different subjects while I just care less and less.

What specifically are you studying? I assume it's mostly analytic if you're at a Western institution.
