I was about to post my own thread but I figure I'll just post here.

Just started smoking myself, tobacco. Now I smoke 3-4 an evening. This evening I smoked 7 cigarettes and I couldv'e smoked more if I didn't run out. I am not in a good place psychologically. I guess I should have seen this coming; maybe I did but didn't treat it seriously enough. Outwardly my life's alright: steady well-paying job which doesn't demand much of me (except time), short commute, plus I'm pretty young still (26). But something is eating me up. The only thing I can think is the way I let my anger get the better of me when I was around 23 years old and posted some really mean stuff about some small-time authors on this bored back then (late 2015 / early 2016). It really haunnts me to think how I acted back then, how callous I was and so hot-headed. A real pathetic troll. Maybe this place just isn't good for me, not as a main source of communication anyway, but I have nothing else. I feel like an evil person. I feel some kind of pleasure knowing that smoking as much as I do so often is harming me, as a kind of penance. People here (and on other forums) have told me that I'm paranoid, neurotic, obsessive and depressed, that all I can do is forgive myself and learn not to act that way again. But the idea that my words may have negatively affected someone else, who has not done me harm, and who is as far as I can tell "innocent", just makes me feel like a bully and a creep. The latter I can deal with, but a bully is just not something I can handle being or ever having been.

Can I get some advice please /lit/?

I am on a real downward spiral right now and I don't know where to turn. I'm not trying to be dramatic or anything but I really feel under pressure right now and I can't see much of a way out except for apologizing to the people I wrote negatively about and living my life in utter mute and selfless obscurity thereafter.
