Pic related is the only one I've ever read that writes like a man. Read "Good Country People" if you don't trust me. It seems like it's going to be feminist shit, and then she spins it on you. What other female writer has done that?
Annie Proulx is a close runner up, but her novels and stories run on with no punch. Atwood is good, but the clearly feminist and atheist agenda is so didactic that I just feel embarrassed for her.

what i like about female authors is that they don't write like men and it's not at all about feminism but simply a diverse tone and point of view

Give it a go. Based on the science of genetics and the bell curve there has to be at least one woman who can write decently. O'Connor is your girl

GTFO nu-/lit/. Mama Flan Flan is revered here. She’s /lit/‘s undisputed queen. This has been established for years now

Atwood isn't good. Once you read Flannery for a bit longer you'll understand why. Atwood is the quintessential workshop writer. Her thought is mediocre and her prose is literally just writing advice carried out with no character whatsoever.

>> No.11425035

She only wrote two novels and her career is rooted in batshit second-wave feminism, but Andrea Dworkin's first book was apparently rejected by a publisher because they claimed she wrote like a man and despite her reputation as "man-hating", she pretty exclusively cited male authors as early influences.

Alexiad by Anna Komnene is good because as a female historian she isn't shy about gushing how political life is dominated by magnetic Chads. A male historian would be more circumspect in their chracterisations and unlikely to describe some man as an incarnation of Eros for example. How else would you learn that Normans were such sexy bad boys!

Emily Bronte. Wuthering Heights is, at many times, a book that’s more masculinely written than most books written by men. It amazes me that a woman came up with Heathcliff.

OP here. No, I agree with you. I just had to mention Atwood because if nothing else to let it be known I've read her work. And for as shitty as she is, she actually is up in like the top five of female writers. My point is mama Flan is not a female writer.

OP here. True. But Ayn Rand is a horrible writer. To call her prose college-tier is probably the best compliment you could give it. Honestly it reads more like it's written by a high school sophomore.
