yeah ive been reading, which is to say listening to, a book on nintendo corporation, dude if u study the history of business, you can always find the patterns, id software was one, make something shocking, get parents and "authorities" to try to ban it, get millions of dollars in free advertising, sell a million copies to edgy teens, but nintendo shows the other way that is more viable in these jaded times: make something fucking completely wacky, donkey kong (the first hit that they built their entire empire off of) was completely bizarre shit that wasnt like the standard space blaster type shit of the early arcade, they and id (and apple) all share another tactic tho, leverage someone elses brand, king kong, wolfenstein (there was already a game called that in the 80s) and "apple" which of course was owned by the beatles
