If you read the Greeks you'd know Jesus was a copy-cat of Apollonius. Jesus also pretty much imitated the cynics and combined it with the Jewish folk religion. But hey, nothing wrong with that! Whatever floats your boat.

In my ministerial duties once met a scruffy man on the street. Looked homeless, but he told me he did actually have a place to stay. He waved me over with a little Gideon’s Bible. Told me that he was once feeding the birds in the park when the passage struck his mind:

I just love this quote. America, in general, is an unusually predatory, “get yours” society. Anyone who is as shrewd as a snake is expected to prey upon others. In fact, those who are as shrewd as snakes but innocent as doves, who take the side of the sheep against the wolves are considered quite dangerous. This is the kind of danger that Christ embodied. The quote captures His disruptive potential perfectly.
