Who here would enjoy a novel about an inspiring pianist who insists on building his own grand piano, and the struggles it entails for him?

>> No.11366218

That sounds fucking boring

>> No.11366221

sounds like one of those shitty movies that gets a ton of hype around oscar time, but then no one ever watches again

In what ways would you imagine it'd be boring?
>>11366221
Why do you think that's the case?

>> No.11366246

>>11366234
Because it's a book about a guy who doesn't know how to play piano (I assume you meant aspiring and not inspiring) building a piano. Where's the conflict?

>> No.11366254

He doesn't have a piano
Sounds like a conflict to me

Sounds pretentious as shit. Novels about 1 stupid obvious metaphor are never not boring.

because i can just picture the scenes, dude is in some super expensive loft in manhattan no one except a yuppie professional can afford even tho he makes a living by giving piano lessons to black kids, i can just see the lighting, like the blue sky of a sunny day reflecting on a buffed wood floor, thats all i see but i know after the trailer finishes i will think hmm that could be good have to watch it when it hits the torrents, then it gets nominations for best screenplay, best supporting actress (white college girl who works at a lumber store in a hip part of the bronx that doesnt actually exist that helps him order rare wood) but only wins an oscar for best sound mixing or something, then after a brief stint on an shotime channel for drama movies, and a sale on itunes where consumers could purchase the 4k version for $5, everyone immediately forgets it ever existed

Interesting. So you projected pretty much every mainstream "all inclusive" stereotype onto a work that has just been conceived, yes?

>> No.11366290

>>11366278
ya of course, why?

>> No.11366299

>>11366290
Is that all inclusiveness what made it an oscar winner?

Assume it honed in on a particular issue or set of issues and was not all inclusive, because not all issues are inclusive, do you think it would be a movie that would be remembered?

An oscar winner in your mind*
Had to add that qualifier so we stay focused.

That's not a conflict, it's a DIY video

>> No.11366320

it wasn't really that "inclusive" the part were he teaches piano to black kids in harlem is just to show he's a caring liberal kind of white dude, even though he plays classical music, of course it's subtlety condescending by not recognizing the strong tradition of jazz pianists in the area, which is why it never becomes a cult classic among piano people, also the hip white nyu student working at the fictional lumber yard in the bronx is also rather inauthentic but shows that women can be tough and spunky, but focused groups show many white males aged 18-35 in the midwest found her unappealing despite having great tits

It could be really funny if you make the guy an obnoxious psued and the whole book a parody of everything ITT. If you try and do it seriously it will be terrible.

Wouldn't enjoy a novel about that, but definitely a short story.

No pianist has the skills or tools to build their own piano. You can get a free one off of Craigslist in decent shape and have it tuned for less than a hundred.

I'll continue honing my skills. I'll delve into every small crevice of music knowledge and immerse myself there until I discover the secrets that await me. And then I will write this novel as I imagine a treatise on The Forms would look. And you can read it on your deathbed as you reconcile all your inner conflict and die a happy man. Keep an eye out, anon

OP out

>> No.11366952

imagine the novel is printed onto grand staff piano sheet music in between the staves. the "soundtrack" of sorts is meant to be played by the reader, who would hopefully be a pianist, and sight read as an exercise overcoming great challenges just as the novel would seem to portray
