Apropos of pic, I wish Cameron would expend the same kind of energy and budget and technology on a real movie with a real story and real people. Wouldn't it be awesome if the sequel to Avatar was about the dude who stayed behind as a Gumby smurf, forget the character's name, and his new life on the planet. His Gumby wife, his smurf kids, and his process of learning to live in a new culture while he's trying to raise a family. No explosions, no Arch Enemies with Crewcuts, just an Ozu-style family drama. But with that breathtaking speculative scenery, the 3D etc. A half-billion-dollar indie film. Maybe scripted by Noah Baumbach or Nicole Holofcener.C'mon, freals, wouldn't that be awesome?

Well, I wanted Avatar to be a long and serious depiction of colonialisation in all its complexities, paced like the HBO miniseries 'John Addams'. Then again, perhaps the film you imagine is not too far around the technological corner - when such imagery becomes cheaper maybe?

I only have two on my wish list may the Gods of Charity bless me.

Can someone explain how this works? I don't come to /lit/ a lot because I don't read that much, but you really just buy each other books? If so, this is the best board on 4chan by far.

I added some Lovecraft, mainly for my little brother because he wants to get into some Lovecraft, he's just starting middle school. I've personally read the fuck out of Lovecraft's stuff, one of my favourite authors.

And sorry if I come off as begging, I'm really not trying to, just would be nice to get a new book or 2 to add to my collection.

I've been gifted five books so far.

Ahhh, thanks for clarifying that. I guess it's fair after all.
It'd be nice if my gifter sent me an e-mail telling me when it's going to be shipped, but I'm sure he's not around right now. Oh well.
I'm not some creep, I'd like to return the favor directly.

You might notice that my wishlist is more music and movies than books, but the books that are on there I have been desperate to get a hold of, like After Many a Summer Dies the Swan and the Dark Tower box set.

Reposting mine. I'd really like Metro 2033 because I can't find it anywhere in my city, no library carries it, I'm pretty sure I've raided 80% of the book stores here since March, but no dice. If that's not possible, I guess I'll take Fahrenheit 451 or Meditations.
