job because it addresses deep questions that people have about suffering in a beautiful way, and revelation because it has some of the most powerful and interesting passages.

favorite passage is rev 19:11
>I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war.
>His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God.
>The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean.
>Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”a He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.
>On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

I'm well below that threshold, 6 years, actually. I was pretty young when I started browsing this site. Where age is concerned, I've always been comfortably&intuitively pretending to be quite a bit older on the Internet. I always felt uncomfortable being underage, while I was, so I decided not to be. Pretending to be 18+ when I was actually 13 or 14, and always pulled it off, too, fitting into older communities. I'm like a living, memeing "wrong generation" embodiment where internet usage is concerned. I'm also a hypocrite, I looked down on the underageb&s even when I was their age. Guess I might as well pretend I'm in my 30s now. Don't suppose you'll accept me as 'one of' now, though, will you? Good thing I'm anonymous. Thanks for reading my blogpost

Well? Exceptions prove (in the sense of test) the rule. I was this way, reading seriously since the age of 10, seriously collecting books by 14, hanging out with people 5 to10 yrs older than me, in one instance well over 30 years, the like. In hs I felt old, removed from what was going on, etc. All this btw has the strange effect of keeping (you) whomever, one, 'young'. If being young was feeling old, then being old (and feeling old) *ultimately* feels pretty much like what being young was like, at least for me.
If youve tapped into the spirit then congratulations of. Youre on the right path. Towards what? Who cares.

Satan is just a literary device. The entire point of Job is that shit happens for no discernible reason, even if you're a faithful follower of God. The book ends with God coming down and asking Job if he knows all the things God does and it ends with Job acknowledging that his understanding is limited and he should put his faith in God because ultimately only God knows the consequences of allowing good and bad things to happen.

There's also a second minor point where God rebukes Jobs friends for trying to pin the blame on Job without knowing what the fuck they were talking about, which is the secondary point in the book which is just because bad things happen doesn't mean they're a punishment from God, as Jobs friends continually assert.

This. As a side note, it peeves me when people interpret the book as "if you're suffering, it means God is testing you." Job never finds out he was being tested and the whole scenario kind of seems like a one-time thing. The real moral is that like Job, you don't know why God does what he does and you just have to accept it anyway.

Best love poem ever, rich in so many subtexts, so many interpretations possible, erotic desire glorified in light of true love, absolute enigma in terms of its role in the Bible canon for Christians and Jews alike, both lovers could be interpreted as two very simple people glorified by their love to the position of royalty. According to Rabbi Akiva of IV century:
>For all of eternity in its entirety is not as worthy as the day on which Song of Songs was given to Israel, for all the Writings are holy, but Song of Songs is the Holy of Holies."
>Wisdom of Sirach
Very beatifully written, most practical and pragmatic book of OT, advice it gives is timeless, very underrated probably because of its deuterocanonical status
