i want a book that is just the story of a simple girl who has to choose between getting educated or starting a family with her childhood sweetheart, and she manages to do both :-)

i would feel more comfortable in it's authenticity if it was presented through a foreign cultural lens and perhaps peppered with a few swarthy characters that impart some folk wisdom and magical whimsy along the way.
