If Fear and Trembling and The Concept of Anxiety didn't 'work' or I should say didn't make an impression me. Can I just not into Kierkegaard? I feel like I've failed as Catholic in a bizarre way because of this. It upsets me.

I feel like a brainlet. I just recently tried reading the sickness unto death because Kierkegaard's philosophy is supposedly self-contained but a few chapters in and I was already pretty confused and felt like I didn't really get what Kierkegaard was describing. I tried reading alongside an English translation to see how it differs from my French edition and found the former more intellligible.
Actually, there was a typo in the edition I have in the very first chapter on the description of man as a synthesis of divine and "wordly". He talks about a synthesis as a relation between two terms and describes the relation itself as a third term which is a "negative unit". The french translation's typo was really confusing ; for those of you who know a bit of French, it replaced "en" with "un" in the sentence: "Dans un rapport entre deux termes, le rapport entre UN (which should be EN , avoiding the understanding of "entre" as "between" instead of its proper meaning which is the verb "enter") tiers comme unité négative et les deux termes se rapportent au rapport, chacun existant dans son rapport au rapport."
So I just decided to put the book down until my final exams are over. It's not like I made siginificant progress anyway but it's still frustrating.
