I used to date my essays much earlier than I began writing them (the day before they were due) so teachers would think I was a nice young man who’d gotten a nice early start on the essays. Eventually I just stopped caring and put the actual date (the day before the essay is due) or just the due date itself. It’s never been mentioned. I doubt they bother to look at the date.
