I think that 'post-modernism' is one of Chomsky's sore spots. As a rag-tag collection of assorted "well, art is defined by institutions and culture means you can't judge other moralities" kind of positions, he's quite right to reject most of it. And yet, at the same time, he misses many of the subtleties of Derrida, when there's actually much between them that they could have agreed on if they had better understood each other.

You can use moral relativism as an excuse for a lot of things and people with power certainly will
