My father majored in English and everytime I try to talk to him about a novel I read it ends up in him trying to compare it to the events of the then current time
>He Dad, I believe Heart of Darkness is more about the Death of the Ego through Enlightment of the self.
>That is acceptable since Jung thought of the Death of the Ego during the similar time as wehn Conrad wrote his novella
I forgot other examples but it is always turns out into such a disappointment.

>Code monkeys are nothing but glorified plumbers
The avant-garde composer Philip Glass shocked at least one music lover when he materialized, smock-clad and brandishing plumber’s tools, in a home with a malfunctioning appliance. “While working,” Glass recounted to The Guardian in 2001, “I suddenly heard a noise and looked up to find Robert Hughes, the art critic of Time magazine, staring at me in disbelief. ‘But you’re Philip Glass! What are you doing here?’ It was obvious that I was installing his dishwasher and I told him that I would soon be finished. ‘But you are an artist,’ he protested. I explained that I was an artist but that I was sometimes a plumber as well and that he should go away and let me finish.”

Art as a job is basically dead. So quit dreaming on that one. The only way you can get any money is by being some Hollywood shill willing to shoot his artistic vision in th foot or by getting UBER lucky and being just normie tier enough that teenage girls read you.
That’s not to say don’t work on your art. Far from it. Work are your art in your free time (there would be more of it if you stop using the computer so much). It’s just you will still have to work a job. Write or paint or compose or whatever when you get home. If you love doing it, you can get through the urge to just relax instead. Also training yourself to do it everyday helps.

>Don't get me started on "feedback on your writing." Just make friends with someone who likes to read or join a discussion group.
