It teaches morality without being absolute, the characters were people i cared about, and the world building is amazing of course and it was all written in the Oxford kind of charming highbrow way.

I've only seen the movie (100x), but I've received exactly the opposite when it comes to morality. These guys are bad, these guys are good. End of stoy.

Could You explain it some more? Maybe the book does that, which the movie has not even tried? Or, am I missing something in the movie?

The books have a lot more space foe each character to develop, and you get to see how they are all capable of bad and good but yes they tend to either align with the greater good or greater evil. When i said not absolute i meant they did not always succeed or live up to their best (or worst)
