Jonah is possibly the most enjoyable read, but it's extremely short. I prefer Tobit or Maccabees.

Revelation and Daniel are the best books; for reasons I should not have to explain to anyone vaguely familiar with the occult and teleology

you can just read:

genesis, isaiah, daniel, gospel of st john, gospel of st matthew, eccliastes, psalms, revelation and skip everything else

The writings of the prophet Isaiah, with a healthy dose of The Revelation of John. These should be the initiatory books of the Christian experience. I also mean to say that Isaiah is the best.

You’re right in saying that you’re judged differently for your favorite book of the Bible.

Sidenote, Ecclesiastes is unironically one of the realest philisophy books out there and you don’t have to be a Christian to appreciate its meaning.

Job is also interesting to read if you want a better understanding of God’s relation to man and the concept of suffering.

But it's pretty accurate by bible standards. Even if some of the details didn't happen, the Jews returning from exile and rebuilding Jerusalem did.

This. Job is just basically him asking "why do good people suffer" and God answering "because reasons".

Because 2 Corinthians 1-5 lays out the essence of Christian fellowship, and exactly how we should think about Christ: as a unifying spirit that recreates the believer in his image.

Job is best bible book. It's a bronze aged report of a classic ufo poltergeist infestation given a religious interpretation. The details it goes into reveal the ages old pattern of haunting, including cattle multilation, radiation poisoning, the slow psychological grinding down of the target of the elemental, until a climatic showdown where the djinn is at full strength, and then it all disapears as mysteriously as it started.

Or perhaps better is that bit where the old guy gets hit on by his slutty grandaughters, reitterating why you should avoid that particular tribe and their harlot women at all costs.
