No, nothing has been written about modern culture or social mores that’s worth reading. You’re simply not allowed to do this and retain sovereignty as a creative, if you do, you’re considered a reactionary and blacklisted or a marxist and ridiculed into silence. There is no possible gate to the subconscious of the post-modern/hyper modern because their amnesiac, narcissistic, hyper violent hive consciousness cannot permit analysis. this will always be the case and even moreso as irony and psychopathic socializing cannibalizes human self awareness. You will reach a point where the public can’t bear to see its own reflection. The outrage of the boomers and greatest generation against the beats, post-modern writers is nothing compared to the social suicide that is trying to describe modern workplace, modern sexuality, modern ontogeny or education. Will not, cannot happen, and over time more philistines, more insensitive slavish animal types will shout down any attempt to do this. /lit/ is an early, frontier land, example of this unconscious discomfort with self awareness. Irony is a veering away and obscuring of self awareness, it displaces the conscious attention from its own body and makes an object of absurdity (read: without analysis, monologic purity spiraling, a suggestion of infallibility by a false pathos of distance from being). So, no it hasn’t been written, no it won’t be, it must be or we risk schizophrenic becoming as the permanent mode or process of human in the future. I doubt anyone will overcome the total lack of care or compassion in hyper modernity.

This is French, but same thing.
Michel Houellebecq, elementary particles.
Follows two brothers, one who neglects his social life for scientific career and one who embraces a hedonistic sex/masturbation fueled lifestyle. The characters talk about t heir family life.

The swing between two sexual extremes is pretty normal. Totally vanilla, hetero sex for decades, and then he wants to have weird sex, big surprise. The wife is the one who fucked up by making him realize he could have a more thrilling sex life and basically forcing him into it. Neither of them have become really sick yet. Maybe the wife because she seems like she wants BDSM. The guy just wants to cum in young holes.

Also you'll probably like The Corrections. It's more 1990s - 2000s than 2010 - 2020, but out of everything I've read it captures the feel of contemporary life, minus the internet, the best. Particularly the self satisfaction hanging over the abyss of certain degeneration. All the weird sex stuff is there too.

The great internet novel you want hasn't been written yet. We don't have the historical distance.

Also highly reccoment Houellebecq. All of his novels deal with contemporary life and they're all pretty good.

I liked Platform, Submission, and Whatever better.

Reading that is depressing. In a sensible society both of them would have been executed and had their children places in a home without the influence of the depraved mind.
