Seriously, I'm waiting for the next big meme hit in the progression of Ulysses - GR - IJ. We need some post-ironic behemoth about the digital age to come out. The closest thing I know is the /lit/'s google doc trilogy but obviously they lack the unity to be proper representations.

The power and beauty of Victorian and Edwardian era steam technology both on its own and as a metaphor for man's mastery of engineering and the hope it brought people living in that age. A hope which was annihilated by WW1. It would be a great subject for a well written non-fiction piece or for the right fictional work, say about an express locomotive engineer who is forced to go from the finest trains of England to the front line shell carrying railroads in WW1's most horrific battles.

Instead all we get that touches on the technology is fucking steampunk degeneracy.

I think the new perspective the steam tech could bring is that most steam locomotive (and steamship, for that matter) engineers and firemen had fairly close relationships with their machines. One would have to exactly describe what the protagonist is doing on the internet, the way he browses it, how he lives, what websites he visits, what he jerks off to etc.

There been obviously thousands of books written by/about jewy characters but anti-semitic hero arcs were limited to allegory by the heavy jewish hegemony over the publishing industry between the 19-20th centuries.
Dostoyevsky discusses the jews pretty critically in "diary of a writer" but that's diary, not fiction. The character lizavetta which raskolnikov murders in crime and punishment is also a callous, parasitic, usurus "german" jewish character too if i recall, but she's not the main focus of the story.
You're best looking at late 19th century eastern european writing since the serfs in russia weren't freed until the 1860's, most had strong words for the jews.
If you want to inagine what a modern anti-semitic hero would look like, just take a jewish film with a clear villain and switch to his perspective, then change the outcome. Most of the time the guy comes out in an excellent light, for example and inverse karate kid.
You could also write a narrative semi-allegorical to the gospel, with the pharisees possible turned into lawyers and university professors.

The overarching theme will always be power dynamics, whether embodied by the down-and-out factory worker who has to scrape by because shlomo offshored the plant to buy another yacht, the palestinian kid facing israeli bullets, the young american and taliban soldiers who really shouldn't be fighting but are pawns in a jewish game that started before any of them were born.

i have thought about this too and i think this topic is better "written" in a net-based(?) trans-media approach, like "Storytelling as archaeology", like ARGs do.

For this my idea was that the best format for this, would be a used computer belonging to one of the characters (or a simulation of it). From here, via the data inside it, one could reconstruct the story. The use of say, passwords protecting certain things, a big collection of saved bookmarks, etc, could work as a way of reinforcing non-linear reading.

Simple chat-bot-tier AI could be used too to inject the reader into the story. But this would border a game rather than a story wouldn't it? Except it has no gaming mechanics, is just a "directed path" into what would actually be more of mythopoeia maybe?

I just found what i was looking for as a reference for this: http://www.scp-wiki.net/, obviously the telnet/ssh entrypoint is an art-direction decision, but it think it would be best, like if you merged SCP with war-games (http://overthewire.org/wargames/)) i think it would work best to create the perfect atmosphere for it.

I got the idea to start writing it from a thread back in February which quickly died, and I've posted in a couple threads since I've been working, asking if anons wanted to contribute or collaborate, but nobody has been interested yet.

This is definitely an important topic, but perhaps the trouble is it's "too big" - it basically encompasses the entire trajectory of the modern western world, so if it appears in serious works at all, it's only going to be as a sort of background vibe.

In almost all Victorian novels there's a huge sense of "technological optimism" - the feeling that The Industrial Revolution Will Take Us To God. Kipling wrote a good poem called "McAndrew's Hymn", which conveys this attitude pretty well. It's a dramatic monologue about an engineer on a steamship, basically mixing religious feelings with respect for Victorian-era technology. But generally this feeling only emerges in little incidental details; e.g. the pride in the railways and forensic science in the Sherlock Holmes stories.

I seem to remember Stanley Kubrick saying (or someone saying of him) that his primary concern was technology's dehumanization of mankind. It's easy to see that in almost all his films if you start looking for it, but again, it's never really an explicit theme.
