Siddhartha is like, 100 pages that a child could read. This is a disguised pseud thread.

There's nothing wrong with being a teenager, but LARPing as mature on an anonymous internet forum is just dumb. Enjoy your youth instead of making stupid comments in order to persudade youself of your own "maturity".

My point was that it was hasty to assume that OP was making a pseud bait thread, because some people genuinely enjoy Siddhartha.

if I’m not a native should I bother reading this in english or just read a translation?

I can read in english things like Stoner and Hemingway, Steinbeck or Fitzgerald. I can’t read Moby Dick all that well though and A portrait of the artist as a young man gave me some trouble in the first 50 something pages

So far as I've read (only ~340p in), he actually uses mostly plain English, except for those parts where they might spell should as shou'd or though as tho' and such. The biggest problem for you might be the sentence structure. It's a lot of long, very wordy and digressive sentences that separate with a whole markup of dashes and colons and semicolons, but not periods, to lay out this thought and that thought in a not-so conventionally (according to contemporary writing conventions) straightforward manner.

In all six hundred pages there is probably not a single one that doesn't involved a play on words. So I would say read it in English if you can. What's your native language?
