All of my fucking life I was sold all that Disney bullshit about love and the like, and I got into a really bad fucking place having delusions of love and then to just be thrown into the world and see how awful women are. I should've just read this book and have been completely redpilled on women and I'd be a hundred times happier now. Schoppy's dislike for the female sex is based around his critique of the unphilosophical, common sense mindset it naturally falls into unless it reaches individuation. My sexuality is the most weird thing ever and I kinda went from a very cheerful, happy person content with life to a depressive fuckup just because of my constant thoughts of women. The thing that tipped me off the edge was seeing all the women hate threads on r9k, and I grew to strongly resent women, like really hate women and their sexual nature. After that I went on to watch and read Lolita and I became fixated with the idealized version of Dolores Haze in my head. It was a sort of natural reaction to all this hatred I held for women and you're completely right in being worried about this being unhealthy...

He has no self-control except in regards to style. On every good occasion he sends the reader to Hell, he ill-treats him; in his speech the personal pathos is always lurking. Reading his sanguine prose, the cultivated European discovers that the philosopher is not always a cold fish, a boring pedant. He has a scorbutic, aggressive, sullen and resentful temperament. He's stingy and not just in regards to money. His eagle eye managed to discern, underneath the appearances, the plot of life: that spectacle he wants to remove from others, he only speaks of it to pretend that everyone should recognize it as his exclusive domain. Vulgar will coupled with an higher intellect: this is expressed in his philosophy. He waited for something more from life, the booty of a marauder, the unbridled fulfillment of a tyrant, something he had to give up too soon. He was frustrated, but not for the banal impotence of a bookish man. As a boy, as a young man he hoped and waited a long time for Goethe; in return he had an icy, regal sign of consent, of encouragement: he hid disappointment. His comfort came more from the myth of literature than from an overflowing, self-sufficient interiority: thus he theorized the isolation of genius, the exclusive possession of truth, and more ridiculously the glory of posterity, almost for a metaphysical justice. He was a prisoner of these concepts. What is most forgivable to Schopenhauer is his childish side (while he would like to be seen as cynical, especially towards women). Certain polemical accents, or even shrill cries, when the anger almost seems to take his breath away, but makes his pen more agile, really look similar to a child's tantrums. His senile vanity, on the other hand, blissfully drinks all the silly praises, the exaltations from his first disciples, regardless of the value of those who pronounce them.

I'm always worried by how much Schopenhauer resonates with me, but my affinity towards him seems consistent with his philosophy (i.e. my "Will" tells me he is correct even if in my conscious reasoning faculties I try to refute him). I once heard somebody say that reading something you feel a particularly profound connection to is like rediscovering a truth you already knew but had packed away into a deep corner of your mind.
