/lit/ It's time for you to confess.
I'll start - I read the Harry Potter series and enjoyed it.

I write cheesy science fiction romance to make up for my unsatisfactory social life.

i want to be a writer but I think the novel is dead and the future of literature is on the internet.

I got published writing shitty ya fiction about teenage girls baking and have made enough money to not need to work for quite a few years. I like money but I hate myself for it, currently working on a "serious" book but honestly I think I'm just going to find a cushy job and work that for the next 40 years of my life.

first of all...how the fuck did you novelize "teenage girls baking"? I mean, fuck dude, that, in itself, is a skill. Regardless, let's pretend you live in a small midwestern town and you're an adult. Not needing to work for quite a few years means you made a minimum of $100k (i figure around $30k needed to live a pretty close to poverty existence)? You made $100k off "teenage girls baking"?

I already owned my house so I'm only paying for utilities and what I need to live.

50 Shades sold millions, whatever crap Rick Riordan is still writing sells just fine. Is it so hard for you to believe that a book series about teenage girls in highschool wouldn't be enough to make me a modest income over multiple entries in the series?

No, I'm not saying it as a bad thing, man. I'm impressed. I'm saying, hell, you could probably get any marketing job you want if you just print out and attach your residuals to your resume.

There's not much to be envious of. I spent 7 months on a manuscript about a county-wide food fair because an editor suggested that I write a book for teenagers and young adults after rejecting my manuscript.
I've spent a good 3 and a half years of my life writing shit and I feel drained of all creativity because of it. I wish I could say that I regret "selling out" but I'm much too comfortable for that.

I get where you're coming from. I do. Just don't discount your success if it didn't, or hasn't yet come in the form you dreamed/hoped it would. Success is success. Don't be ashamed of it. Good luck with your next endeavor.

>Gently, softly, I fondled her soft body. I felt my prick stiffen in my shorts. Apartheid did not matter now; her taut nipples pushed at the fabric of her breast as I forgot about my dead wife, and the woman I had just married. I never loved either of them. The prostitute in front of me was black as race guilt. I fucked her gently and came in her blood-hot sheath. I am an African like you, I said. That'll be fifty, she said.
