Even Nietzsche realised that the "will to power" doesn't work. The abyss can't not destroy you. It's a simple as that. There is no such thing as non-slavery. It is simply what we are. Augustine realised this centuries before, that only the man of God can truly be free.

You're a fucking idiot. You don't even know what the Will to Power is.
IT ISN'T POLITICAL POWER, IT'S SELF-REPLICATION. IT IS BIOLOGICAL. IT'S A CONCEPT BASED OFF OF NON-DARWINIAN EVOLUTION WHICH NIETZSCHE WAS EXTREMELY INTERESTED IN. THE THEORY IS, IS THAT STRUGGLE IS A LESSER ASPECT OF THE ACTUAL WILL TO EXPAND/REPRODUCE ONESELF IN A SUSTAINABLE WAY.
Go read Nietzsche, Biology and Metaphor. It's a great book since most idiots think Nietzsche is some abstract egoist. No wonder you think Stirner is somehow at all similar.

I read it when I was very young (like 15) and it was one of the first literary books I read. The way Tolstoy views his characters was profoundly important in determining the way I see art and its inherent purpose, in ways I can't really put into words

You love only your made-up image of rightfulness, which you assert exists in the other (the relative of the Christian's "love" - the modern political prude's "love" via "correctness") You don't give jack shit about the living, offending difference, about any human who differs from you and will never have anything in common with you until his death. Which is not surprising, considering the genesis of reactivity in any human multitude, esp. religious species.

I can't believe you and I are the only ones who believe this is a good post.

What the original anon is basically warning against is Nietzschean esotericism. You do NOT want to become absorbed in Nietzschean logic, this is a fact. His reasoning can be very serpentine at times, and if you do decide to consider it, do it only as a sick fascination with where atheism leads someone who has been gifted with good reasoning capabilities.

Kierkegaard is much better for existentialism.

That's not entirely true though is it? It's not bound to, but is apart of the psych or whatever of the person becoming whatever he wills as he strives against life, or something along those lines. Same, I almost never re-read books, at least not all the way through. It doesn't say anything new, of course, but the voice of the author is so comforting, like an old alcoholic at a bar half-disinterestedly rattling off his somewhat, but not really, remarkable life story, without pretense, the beauty coming purely from a naturally tragic mode of feeling. The fact that he wrote it for money and always preferred his day job makes it that much better.
