Has anyone actually read this garbage?

It's a shame that this cunt is already dead so I can't guillotine him myself.

I'm serious.

It's utter worthless trash.

He unironically states that histories about Rome and Greece should be banned because they awaken too many memories of liberty and the state begins to lose it's grip.

He's literally Big Brother like 300 years before it was cool.

Of course he was wrong, he doesn't deviate from Anglo tradition in that regard. But he is also wrong in an interesting way, which, to be fair, is also Anglo tradition.

He was the superior political philosopher up to his time. Reading Plato, Aristotle, Cicero - none of these guys seem all that into "liberty". Hobbes actually bothered to make compelling arguments as to why it would be in the interest of the ruled to be ruled, while the classics mostly just thought about what would be a neat ways to structure society in favour of the ruling classes.

I think Hobbes is really fun to read. The way he randomly capitalizes words -- WARRE, NATURE, etc. Who cares if his arguments suck and his account of human nature and moral psychology are ridiculous

and borne out. Plus, he's just fun to read- if (you) know how.

I think Aristotle makes a decent argument for why it's beneficial to engage in political organization.

Read the whole thing, it isn't that great. He shits on the pope and faggot tryhard greek philosophers which made me happy.

As far as what he thinks about human nature and government structure, he's basically correct.
