How do I get into reading ironically? Alright, here me out before you accuse me of shitposting. Last summer in Chicago, I went to a /lit/ meet up - I was the guy with a Cubs hat and a beard. I was speaking to some people, telling them reading and studying authors didn't do it for me anymore, and some guy suggested to me reading ironically. As in, reading Tom Green and that type of kitsch.

I don't think I can stomach something like that, but I've never tried it really. I was thinking of maybe easing into that, you know start reading the Greeks ironically because not only have I read few of them, reading more contemporary philosophers that include footnotes has helped me understand them a whole lot better. Any thoughts or suggestions?

This is a psychological trick on par with hyperbolic tropes and exaggerated mnemonics and images. Do it and report your results.

it isn't easy. you have to be able to hold the book above your head so you can read and roll your eyes sarcastically at the same time.

Would it be fair to rephrase this as "How do I get into reading things I don't necessarily like or have agree with, but have some interest in?"?
