Hello /lit/ today I discuss with you an unpopular opinion.

I intend to write a Hitler play. It is no different than Shakespeare writing about Caesar in my opinion. No I am not a Nazi, just appreciate the speeches he left behind. The thing is, I have never written a play before. The plot I have so far will examine Hitler's life without friendship. He spent much of his life alone and abused yet he showed extraordinary devotion to his country, his place of birth. This is where I ask for your help and opinions. Are there any books you recommend on oration? Does anyone have a non biased copy of mein kampf? Is this idea worthwhile?

I honestly think you could get away with it unscathed if you made a musical out of it instead. Nothing takes the bite out of a historic touchy subject like humorous song and dance routines

The thing is though I don't know any music: I am just an amateur writer. I know we live in tense political times but in my opinion, politics is inescapable. This is why I believe that this play will be a success: it will include a side of Hitler people have never seen and it will shatter their world view.

If you are into watching plays you should give musicals a shot. They are much more interesting than people give them credit for and women love going so you can bring or find a date there.
After watching one or two you will likely be able to come up with at least an idea of a musical number. Seriously, though: the rigid discipline stereotype of the Nazis is a perfect excuse to make a bunch of them dance in unison on stage

Yeah why would anyone think that if the goto sources for your play are mein kampf, his speeches, his devotion to his country and the iron cross.

Yukio Mishima wrote a play about Hitler and his closest friend Ernst Rohm.
Unless you consider 1935-1945 most of Hitler's life, your premise is objectively wrong.

You don't have the requisite skills in either grammer or inter-personal skills in order to write a play.
Also it has been done before by other people before, many of who had a far more interesting and personal take upon Hitler's rise to power beyond vague platitudes about historical drama.

If you are going to write about him do so about his homelessness, his time in prison, dispossession in homeland, how he gave all but final sacrifice in Great War to come away with a few pins and medals which mean nothing when you are in the gutter.
