I think not relating to Holden as a young adult is a sign of immaturity.
Holden is right and wrong about some things, but if you can't see some aspect of yourself in his story, especially as a young person teens-20's, then you are either trying to present yourself as a mature adult (inadvertently outing yourself as an immature child) or you have some kind of mental or emotional problem.
