What are some good elementary school-level books you read as a child?

Momo
Written by the same dude who wrote the neverending story.
It's about a girl who is at odds with some organization of grey men who steal/trade away the time of people. The cigars they smoke to sustain themselves are made of hour-lilies which represent the life of the people they trade with.

The theme of the book is going against consumerism and the increasing stress and mindlessness of society.
It is really full of meaning and messages for a children book.

This shit was my jam. I still have all three books, proudly kept on my shelf. I don't remember where I got them though, if I picked them up second hand, or if I stole them from my fourth grade classroom.

This too. I find that authors of long series write best when they do stand-alone stuff.
